Through a mixture of high-tech machines and age-old artisanal processes, Immensity is a head-turning collectible. The matte black wooden doors of the Cabinet are engraved with CNC, derived from one of the artist's paintings. James Austin Murray’s black paintings, created with ivory black oil paint, look like a landscape you could walk right into. It is a visual place that is both disconcerting and overpoweringly seductive.

THE ARTIST
James Austin Murray
James Austin Murray’s black paintings, created with ivory black oil paint, look like a landscape you could walk right into. It’s a visual place that is both disconcerting and overpoweringly seductive.
As an NYC firefighter during the 9/11 attack in New York City, Murray paints because it is how he justifies his life following this atrocious day. Nothing else seems to hold up.
He loves to paint – loves the smell of oil paint and the warm buttery consistency it has while it’s being pushed along by the brush. His paintings are a product of working with the light from above and the earth that grounds us. James Austin Murray lives and works in New York City and Kingston, NY. Murray was for 11 years, a firefighter, working in the South Bronx, Harlem, the West Village, and in the Lower East Side.
Sold with an Art certificate of authenticity.
